Christine Gehrke is a visual artist based in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
She studied experimental design with Prof. Tristan Pranyko at the Berlin Weissensee School of Arts. During that time she has deepened her passion for optical instruments and photography as a form of human communication. Communication and delusion: Christine Gehrke explores how the the instruments invented and manufactured by herself will mirror and change the images of our surrounding world.
Her current work „Kaleidography“ combines her love of nature, patterns, machines, sampling and playing. She creates superreflections which as she likes to put it present „the reflection of the reflection of the reflection of the reflection come together“. An endless yet playful process of dealing with the complex structures of light . In that sense Christine Gehrke is relentlessly engaged in producing and exploring the Unexpected.
